A Political Affirmation

As an elected or appointed official in local, state or federal government, or as a candidate for the same, I affirm the following:

1. The unalienable rights of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness for all persons as outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution;

2. That the source for unalienable rights is rooted in the nature of the Creator, the God of the Bible;

3. That my service in government only has just power according to Athe consent of the governed@;

4. That the First Amendment begins with religious liberty, and that without religious liberty, the freedoms of speech, press, assembly and redress of grievances are moot; thus, it is the first freedom, and as such I celebrate the freedom for all law abiding citizens to participate in the democratic process according to their express beliefs, religious or otherwise;

5. That the quality of trust is the essential glue for a civil society, and that trust is best learned in the intrinsic nature of heterosexual faithful monogamous marriage and parenting;

6. That public servants should be held to the highest standards of what society aspires to; thus, I also affirm the need to be honest in all my dealings, personal or public.
